Bjp leader Ankit Shukla, accused of brutally beating medical store owner Amoldeep Singh Bhatia in Kanpur, surrendered at the office of Joint Police Commissioner Anand Prakash on Friday.
In Kanpur, five accused, including the councilor’s husband, who had broken his eyes by assaulting Sikh drug dealer Amoldeep Bhatia, surrendered at the Joint CP office on Friday after several days of fighting. From here all five were sent to Raipurwa police station. After getting the medical done, the police presented ACJ-4 in the Junior Division court, after which everyone was sent to jail. After the BJP leader was not arrested and there was strong protest from the Sikh community, the police had also announced a reward of Rs 25 thousand.
On Saturday, Amoldeep, resident of Shyanagar, was returning home with his wife Guneet Kaur. He had a dispute with BJP councilor Soumya Shukla’s husband Ankit Shukla and his associates over overtaking a vehicle near City Club on GT Road. The accused beat Amol severely and one of his eyes was damaged in the attack. On Sunday, the police registered an FIR, after which the accused were being searched. It is being told that due to protests by Sikh organizations the accused had to surrender.
