The Centre has approved a six-month extension for V Srinivas, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan.
He will now continue in the post till February 28, 2027. His retirement was earlier due on August 31, 2026.
The extension was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet after a proposal from the Rajasthan government.
The state had asked for a one-year extension. It cited the need for continuity at an important time. Urban local body elections are coming up. Several big projects are also underway.
Srinivas is a 1989-batch IAS officer. He has over three decades of experience in administration. He has worked both in Rajasthan and at the Centre.
With this decision, Rajasthan will continue with the same top bureaucratic leadership for the next six months.
