Her career began in 2008 as an Assistant Commandant in Makum, Assam, where she was swiftly assigned to manage the violence between Bodos and Bangladeshis in Udalguri.
Sanjukta Parashar, an IPS officer from Assam, exemplifies bravery and resolve in her battle against terrorism. Her tireless operations in the dense jungles of Assam, armed with an AK-47, have established her as a formidable adversary to anti-social elements. Within just 15 months, she has neutralized 16 terrorists, made over 64 arrests, and confiscated significant caches of weapons and ammunition. Her name alone instills fear among militants in the region.
Born and raised in Assam, Sanjukta Parashar excelled academically from a young age. After completing her schooling in Assam, she graduated with a degree in Political Science from Indraprastha College in Delhi. She furthered her studies with a postgraduate degree in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and went on to earn an MPhil and PhD in US Foreign Policy.
Sanjukta Parashar’s entry into the Indian Police Service (IPS) began with her securing the 85th rank in the All India Civil Services Examination, joining the 2006 batch. Opting for the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, she quickly made a name for herself with a series of significant accomplishments.
Her first assignment in 2008 was as Assistant Commandant in Makum, Assam, where she was deployed to manage the violence between Bodos and Bangladeshis in Udalguri. Later, as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Sonitpur district, she led CRPF teams in direct combat against Bodo militants, often seen in action with an AK-47. Her commanding presence in these operations garnered widespread attention on social media.
Despite facing numerous death threats from militant groups, Sanjukta remained resolute. In 2015, she led a successful anti-Bodo terrorist campaign, neutralizing 16 militants in 15 months, arresting 64 Bodo militants, and recovering a substantial amount of arms and ammunition. Her previous efforts had also been notable, with 175 terrorists arrested in 2014 and 172 in 2013.
Beyond her formidable role in law enforcement, Sanjukta Parashar is also recognized for her compassion. During her off-duty hours, she frequently dedicates time to helping people in relief camps. She characterizes herself as humble and caring, underscoring that only those who engage in criminal activities have cause to fear her.
