UP government appointed Ravi Kumar N G, Divisional Commissioner, Gorakhpur, as new the CEO of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA).IAS officer from the 2004 class, Ravi Kumar N. G., was appointed secretary of tourism, culture, and religious affairs for the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
He was moved and given the position of Gorakhpur Division Commissioner in 2021. Ravi Kumar, a Karnataka native, has also worked as the director general of UP Tourism.He served as the district magistrate of Mathura and Agra before being named the district magistrate of Gorakhpur in 2012. He served as the former water minister Uma Bharti’s private secretary while he was on deputation at the Centre.

Ravikumar NG, a 2004 batch IAS officer of UP cadre, has been serving as the Gorakhpur Commissioner since 2021. Before his appointment in Gorakhpur, he held the position of Secretary in the UP Tourism, Culture, and Religious Affairs department. Ravi Kumar, a Karnataka native, also held the post of the Director of the UP Tourism department. Ravikumar is expected to join the Greater Noida authority as CEO soon after completing his duties in the Gorakhpur division.

The Uttar Pradesh government appointed Ravikumar NG as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the Greater Noida authority (GNIDA) in a significant reshuffle in administration on Saturday, July 08 2023.
Ritu Maheshwari, the CEO of the Noida authority held the additional charge of the Greater Noida authority since September 2022. Prior to her Surender Singh, a 2005-batch IAS officer, commissioner in the Meerut division for the past year and a half was given the additional charge of GNIDA CEO in May this year.
Farmers protesting in Greater Noida
The appointment of Ravikumar NG as CEO comes after a series of protests by farmers demanding a 64 per cent increase in land compensation for their lands acquired for the development of Greater Noida.
Farmers from 124 villages have been protesting against the Greater Noida authority and staging a dharna, asserting that they will continue their agitation if their demands are not met reported a leading news daily HT.
Moreover, homebuyers too were concerned over delays in property registrations. They believed the former CEO was inundated with work of both Noida and Greater Noida.
Known as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “favourite officer” this significant reshuffle comes after local leaders told the chief minister that Maheshwari was not paying much attention to Greater Noida, which was detrimental to the BJP’s prospects ahead of the 2024 elections.
