Lucknow – Mr.Shiv Sahay Awasthi, an esteemed IAS officer from the 2011 batch, has demonstrated a commendable journey through various key administrative roles in , Uttar Pradesh. Born on May 20, 1984, and hailing from Sitapur, Awasthi was appointed to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) on August 29, 2011. Since then, his career has been marked by consistent growth and significant contributions across multiple districts and departments.
Shiv Sahay Awasthi began his career with Phase-I training at Mussoorie, followed by district training in Barabanki. His early postings as Joint Magistrate in Ayodhya and Barabanki laid the foundation for his hands-on experience in district administration. His capabilities were further recognized with his appointment as Chief Development Officer (CDO) in Bareilly, where he served from August 2014 to April 2017.
Awasthi’s leadership skills were put to the test when he assumed the role of District Magistrate (DM) and Collector in Rampur in April 2017. His tenure in Rampur was followed by a significant stint as DM and Collector in Jhansi, where he held various additional responsibilities, including that of Municipal Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation. His time in Jhansi, spanning from January 2018 to February 2020, was marked by efforts to improve civic administration and developmental initiatives.
Post his district-level assignments, Awasthi transitioned to roles with wider administrative purview. In February 2020, he was appointed as Special Secretary & Additional Commissioner in the Sugar and Cane Development Department in Lucknow, where he also served as Director of Cane. His work in this department was crucial in overseeing the sugar and cane industries, which are vital to the state’s economy.
Continuing his trajectory in the state administration, Awasthi was appointed as Special Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh in the APC Branch in April 2023. Shortly thereafter, in August 2023, he assumed his current position as Special Secretary in the Medical, Health & Family Welfare Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
