K Ravinder Naik, an esteemed IAS officer of the 1995 batch, has built an impressive career through diverse and pivotal roles across various districts and departments in Uttar Pradesh. Born on May 12, 1965, in Mahabubnagar, Telangana, Mr. Naik holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. His journey in public service began with his appointment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) on September 3, 1995, following his training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie.
Mr. Naik’s early years in the IAS were marked by his postings as Assistant Magistrate and Assistant Collector in Lakhimpur Kheri. Following this, he undertook the Joint Magistrate roles in Jhansi and Agra, where he gained significant experience in district administration. By 1999, he had advanced to the position of Chief Development Officer, serving in Etah and Badaun, where he was instrumental in implementing rural development programs.
In 2002, Mr. Naik began a series of critical appointments as District Magistrate (DM) and Collector in multiple districts, including Bahraich, Muzaffarnagar, Banda, Etah, Deoria, Barabanki, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Aligarh. His tenure as DM in these districts was marked by his proactive approach to governance, emphasizing development initiatives and maintaining law and order.
Mr. Naik’s administrative acumen was further recognized when he was appointed as Special Secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh in various departments, including Planning, Social Welfare, and Energy. His contributions during these roles laid the groundwork for significant policy implementations at the state level.
In 2011, Mr. Naik’s career took a Notable turn when he was appointed as Divisional Commissioner of Gorakhpur, a role that expanded his influence over a broader geographical area and multiple districts. His leadership in Gorakhpur was followed by a pivotal role as Commissioner of Transport, U.P., where he served as the Managing Director of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). His tenure in transport was marked by efforts to improve the efficiency and reach of public transportation in the state.
Furthering his experience in state-level governance, Mr. Naik held key positions as Secretary to the Government of U.P. in departments such as Urban Development, Animal Husbandry, Sports, and Youth Welfare. His leadership extended to managing industrial development as Commissioner and Director of Industries in Kanpur Nagar, where he also held multiple managing director roles in state-owned textile and financial corporations.
From 2019 onwards, Mr. Naik took on the role of Principal Secretary in various departments, including Rural Development and Social Welfare, where he played a crucial role in implementing policies aimed at uplifting rural and marginalized communities. His work in these departments underscored his commitment to inclusive development and social equity.
Since November 2021, Mr. Naik has been serving as the Principal Secretary to the Government of U.P. in the Administration Reforms and Public Service Management Department, alongside his role as Director of the Administration Reforms Directorate. In this capacity, he has been at the forefront of efforts to enhance administrative efficiency and public service delivery in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, he oversees the Secretariat Administration, Dairy Development, Fisheries, and Animal Husbandry, reflecting the broad scope of his responsibilities.
