Hamirpur Land Scam: SDM Among 13 Booked for Illegally Transferring 58 Acres of Collectorate Land

Hamirpur district, Uttar Pradesh, a major land fraud has surfaced involving the mysterious disappearance of over 58 acres of government land—land officially tied to the residence of the District Magistrate. The land, once part of the DM’s bungalow estate, was allegedly siphoned off through a web of forged documents and fraudulent transactions, ultimately ending up in private hands.

The gravity of the case prompted swift action from the current District Magistrate, who, upon uncovering the irregularities, ordered the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against 13 individuals, many of whom are former administrative officials.

Among those named in the FIR are:👇🏼

📍Sukrama Prasad Vishwakarma (PCS), who served as SDM Sadar from 2004 to 2007

📍Vijay Kumar Gupta (PCS), also posted as SDM Sadar during the period under scrutiny

📍Gyanendra Singh, the then Naib Tehsildar

📍The Sadar Lekhpal, alongside nine additional officials, all allegedly complicit in orchestrating the fraudulent transfer

The allegations point to a calculated manipulation of land records, with government land—specifically that attached to the DM’s residence—being surreptitiously transferred to private individuals. The move not only represents a substantial financial loss to the state but also raises deep concerns about systemic lapses and possible collusion within the bureaucracy.

The implications are sobering. If prime government property under the very nose of the district’s top administrator can be misappropriated, it casts a shadow over the security of land holdings for ordinary citizens, many of whom already face challenges in navigating land ownership systems.

With the investigation underway, authorities have assured that accountability will be enforced and those responsible brought to justice. The case now stands as a litmus test for the state’s resolve in combating administrative corruption and restoring faith in land governance.
