In the absence of a teacher, DM Mangesh Ghildiyal implemented a creative solution to prevent disruption in the education of schoolchildren.
Bageshwar district magistrate Mangesh Ghildiyal is renowned for his altruistic approach to his duties. However, this time, he went above and beyond, involving his wife to ensure continuity at a school. Their joint effort has garnered attention once again. Upon learning about a shortage of science teachers at GGIC Rudraprayag High School, as reported by Amar Ujala, the DM promptly assigned his wife, Usha Ghildiyal, to oversee the classes until a suitable replacement could be found. Usha not only embraced the responsibility but also quickly endeared herself to the students, becoming their favorite teacher.
The DM’s popularity is such that in May of this year, when Mangesh was slated for transfer from Bageshwar, hundreds of district residents rallied on the streets to protest the relocation to Rudraprayag. Mangesh is also renowned for facilitating access to various government welfare initiatives and purportedly intends to establish a coaching center for civil services aspirants in the district.
In 2011, Mangesh achieved the fourth position nationwide in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) examination. Although he had the option to join the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), he opted to serve in his home cadre and swiftly demonstrated his capabilities. Additionally, reports indicate that aside from his administrative duties, Mangesh personally addresses issues within his jurisdiction by promptly visiting problem areas and providing solutions. Furthermore, Mangesh’s wife, Usha, is reported to actively contribute to the development of the Bageshwar district.
Usha too has got a doctorate degree in Plant Pathology from Govind Ballabhpant University. Speaking to Bureaucrats Media Usha said, “I want girls to excel in fields like arts and science and make their district proud.”
