Bureaucrats Magazine – Amitabh Jain, an IAS officer of 1989 batch, has been appointed as the new chief secretary of Chhattisgarh. He succeeds Rajendra Prasad Mandal, an IAS officer of 1987 batch, who retired from service on Monday after his tenure as chief secretary.

Bureaucrats Magazine – Before being elevated to the post of chief secretary, the 55 year old IAS officer was posted as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Finance with additional charge of water resources department.

Bureaucrats Magazine – Jain is a mechanical engineer who holds a master’s degree in systems and management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1989 and has served Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh cadres. Earlier, he worked as Minister (Economic) in the High Commission of India, London where he handled the assignment pertaining to promotion of trade and investment between India and the United Kingdom.

Bureaucrats Magazine – Earlier, he also served as joint secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi and looked after assignments pertaining to formulation, modification and implementation of the country’s foreign policy for five years.

Bureaucrats Magazine – Senior IAS officer Amitabh Jain has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh. Amitabh Jain will replace Rajendra Prasad Mandal, who retired from the post of Chief Secretary on November 30. Before being made the Chief Secretary, 55-year-old IAS officer Amitabh Jain had held the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Finance and Water Resources Department.

Before this, Amitabh Jain had also been Minister (Economic) in the Indian High Commission based in London. Where he has worked to increase trade and investment between India and Britain.
